General: Ken Hermann.

Ken Hermann, Denmark

Based in Copenhagen, Ken Hermann is the winner of the General Category in the Hasselblad Masters Awards. “It’s a big honour for me and I’m really proud because this is one of the most prestigious and well-known awards in the industry,” he says. “Winning the award will give me the chance to show my work to a global audience including potential international customers and agencies. I am really looking forward to contributing to the Hasselblad Masters book and exhibitions.”

Ken’s winning project was called ‘City Surfers,’ and it saw him focusing on people involved in the practice of Parkour and Freerunning. “I have always been fascinated by them, the way they use the city in different ways to practice their lifestyle,” he adds. “I took all my images using the Hasselblad H2 and studio lighting to freeze the subjects and to make them stand out from their surroundings.”

For the ‘Evoke’ project, Ken is planning something special, but he’s still working on the details. “I can’t reveal my idea yet,” he says, “but one thing is for sure. I’ll be pushing the Hasselblad and the Broncolor lightning equipment even further to get the perfect images for the Hasselblad Masters book 2012.”
